Dental Implants Can Change Your Life

teeth health smile dentistFor anyone struggling with a missing tooth, missing multiple teeth, or loose dentures- dental implants are a great option. Your self-esteem, self-confidence and enjoyment of life will increase when you feel good about your smile.

A dental implant is like a replacement tooth.

Today’s implants are very durable, typically made of titanium, and serve as the replacement for the tooth “root”. This root is placed in the jawbone and fuses with the natural bone, so the dental implant is sturdy and secure. An implant can be used to support an implant crown (replacing one tooth), an implant bridge (replacing several teeth) or to secure a loose denture.

Key takeaways:

  • Implant crowns are carefully colour-matched to the surrounding teeth so look very similar to healthy, natural teeth.
  • They don’t require us to alter adjacent teeth, so the natural teeth are not affected – which keeps things as simple as possible and helps keep the adjacent teeth healthy in the long-term.
  • An implant functions and feels like a natural tooth when you eat, smile, laugh and talk- so you’re no longer embarrassed eating and speaking in public.

Sliding dentures can make chewing difficult.

Dental implants make the dentures more secure, so they don’t slip – functioning like your own teeth and allowing you to eat your favorite foods with confidence and without pain.
